Saudi Arabia reiterates its willingness to send troops to Syria

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al Jubeir, during a press conference held in Riyadh with Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, reiterated the will of the kingdom to deploy troops in Syria as part of the US-led efforts to stabilize the country torn by seven years of conflict.

"We are in discussions with the United States and we have been since the beginning of the Syrian crisis (in 2011) to send forces to Syria".

Al Jubeir pointed out that the proposal to send Saudi troops as part of a broader international coalition is not "new", "We had made a proposal to the Obama administration that if the United States sent forces ... then so would the Saudi Arabia would have considered, together with other countries, sending forces as part of this contingent ”.

The willingness to support an international military action in Syria was expressed by the Saudi hereditary prince Mohammed bin Salman even before the raids made last weekend by the United States, France and Great Britain against alleged chemical military installations of the regime in Syria.
