Saudi Arabia, a channel of 60km to isolate Qatar

Five international companies with experience in the channel excavation sector have so far presented their offers for the Salwa channel in the territories of Saudi Arabia and along the borders with Qatar. The name of the winner will be announced between 90 days and the company will have one year to complete the work, reported the Saudi daily Makkah.
The canal will extend from Salwa to Khor Al Adeed, and will be 200 meters wide and 15 to 20 meters deep to allow the transit of ships up to 295 meters long and 33 meters wide.
There are also several resorts with private beaches in Salwa, Sakak, Khor Al Adeed and two in Ras Abu Qamees.
Seaports will be built in Salwa and Aqlat Al Zawayed and will complete that of Ras Abu Qamees.
The marinas for yachts and water sports will be built on the two banks of the canal, making it one of the most attractive in the Gulf region.
The canal will be inside Saudi territory and will be approximately one kilometer from the official border with Qatar.
The plan will be presented to the authorities concerned, including the Ministry of Defense and the border police.
Reportedly, the project will be entirely financed by private investors from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and the Egyptian companies with experience in the excavation sector could contribute to the construction of the canal.
A Saudi military base will be located in the kilometer separating the Salwa waterway from Qatar, while the rest will be converted into a waste landfill for the Saudi nuclear reactor, which Riyadh plans to build based on best practices and environmental requirements at the world.
In April, Saudi border guards took control of the affected Salwa territory, cutting off Qatar's only land connection with the outside world.
