Four men arrested in Morocco are accused of financing ISIS

The official news agency Map has announced that the Moroccan police have arrested two Syrian citizens and two Moroccans involved in financing the Islamic State (ISIS).

The report says that an investigation by the security services revealed that one of the Syrian suspects made his Morocco account available to a money transfer agency in Syria run by a relative in order to transfer and receive money. in exchange for commissions on these illegal transactions.

In connection with this case, the same source reported the arrest of two Moroccans for pouring funds into the Syrian national account in 2017 and 2018, noting that he transferred the money to his relatives fighting for IS in Syria.

As for the second Syrian arrested, the investigation showed that he had received suspicious funds in his bank account, according to the same source. The security operation. it is stressed, it is part of the efforts of the Moroccan authorities to pursue suspicious funds and drain sources of terrorist financing, in accordance with UN recommendations and relevant signed conventions.

The four men were brought before the competent prosecutor's office, which decided to arrest three and place one of the Syrian citizens under judicial control.
