The Minister of Justice Andrea Orlando, commenting on the news of the arrest of the Gambian citizen last Friday, declared: "A possible terrorist attack was thwarted and a dangerous radicalized fanatic who had been present in our country for about a year was arrested and put in condition not to harm thanks to the joint action of the police and carabinieri ”.
The arrest took place in Licola thanks to the report received from Spanish intelligence. Minister Orlando then went on to thank the police, the judiciary and his counterpart: "For this I want to thank the Prosecutor Giovanni Melillo and the magistrates of the anti-terrorism pool of Naples, the Chief of Police Franco Gabrielli, to the Commander of the Ros Pasquale Angelosanto and, moreover, to the Spanish Minister of Justice Rafael Catalá Polo ”. “This story once again demonstrates the essentiality of international cooperation and confirms the need for coordination structures such as the European Public Prosecutor's Office, to which it will be necessary to be able to transfer such a high level of effectiveness when it comes into operation”.
