Attack on SKAI TV in Athens

A powerful explosion destroyed windows and offices of SKAI TV in Athens. Officials have called the attack an attack on democracy. Nobody was hurt.
SKAI is one of the largest television stations in Greece and is part of a media group that includes a radio station and is affiliated with the main newspaper, Kathimerini.
Police reported that an IED exploded near the SKAI building at 2: 3. The windows were destroyed on the first to sixth floors.
“The image is terrible”. The suspended ceilings collapse to the floor, the glass windows have almost all broken. No claims have been made yet.
Small attacks on businesses, state buildings, police and political offices are very common in Greece.
Speaking to the SKAI, the minister for the protection of Greek citizens Olga Gerovassili said that the attack is directed against democracy.
The reporters who presented the SKAI morning show still broadcast live outside the building.
Police reported that the device contained at least 5 kg of explosives and was placed in a narrow alley near the building.
Footage broadcast by local media showed a cloud of smoke coming out of the building after a strong explosion.
"Freedom of the press will never be questioned by anyone," New Democracy party spokeswoman Maria Spyraki told SKAI.
