A humanitarian transport departing from Ciampino airport (Rome) with a Falcon 50 aircraft of the 31 ° Stormo dell'Aeronautica Militare with a 5-year-old child on board has just finished at the Galatina airport (Lecce) seriusly sick. The mission, at the request of the Prefecture of Lecce, was coordinated by the AM Summit Situation Room, which ordered the take-off of one of the crews in readiness H24 for this kind of needs. The child, who traveled with his parents, was assisted during the flight by a medical team.
Air Force crews and transport aircraft are ready day and night to ensure, where required and deemed necessary for reasons of urgency, the medical transport of people in imminent danger of life, the transport of organs and / or medical teams. The front line assets in these emergency cases are the transport aircraft of the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa and the helicopters of the 15th Wing of Cervia and the Search and Rescue located on the national territory.
