Banks, ABI: inclusion and valorisation of diversity at the center of 'D&I in Finance', on 6 and 7 March in Milan

Enhancement of diversity and inclusion are the themes at the center of 'D&I in Finance', the event promoted by ABI and organized by ABIEventi starting on Wednesday 6 March in Milan.

Now in its second edition this year, 'D&I in Finance' will be opened by speeches by Giovanni Sabatini, General Director of ABI, and Magda Bianco, Head of the Department for Consumer Protection and Financial Education of the Bank of Italy .

Two days dedicated to the topics of D&I (acronym from the English Diversity & Inclusion) as levers of sustainable growth in the financial world. The event will be an opportunity to highlight the role of banks in favor of the economic and social development of citizens, businesses and territories, as well as their commitment with institutions to promote equal opportunities, also through strengthening citizens' financial skills and knowledge.

There are six round tables of the 'D&I in Finance' event in which banks, insurance companies, institutions, non-financial companies and third sector bodies will take stock of the initiatives and reflect on the cultural change underway on the issues of inclusion and diversity.

The event

Among the themes at the center of the event: synergy with institutions and relationships with territories to create inclusive networks; technological innovation also from the perspective of Artificial Intelligence and the role of STEM knowledge - i.e. scientific, mathematical and technological - for equal opportunities; the transfer of skills between generations; diversity education and awareness initiatives; inclusive leadership to foster business development; the promotion of accessibility, the use of inclusive languages ​​and communication as levers of cultural change even within companies.

During the event, the awards ceremony will also be held for the seventh edition of the initiative promoted by ABI, FEduF and FIABA Ets to support the commitment of young journalists in reporting on the importance of financial culture for the country, with the participation of authors of the contributions that will receive the awards and the supporting organizations. The Award is sponsored by the National Council of the Order of Journalists. The seventh edition, entitled "Stories of diversity and inclusion", was organized with the collaboration as a partner of the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development (ASviS), CeRP-Fondazione Collegio Carlo Alberto and Fondazione Sodalitas, and with the collaboration as media partner of Avvenire and its economic insert "The civil economy", and of Bancaforte. 

Participation in 'D&I in Finance' is free, open to all, in person, and includes the LIS (Italian Sign Language) interpreting service. The program and all the information on the two-day event and on how to register are available on the website https://diversity.abieventi.it/.

The commitment of the banks and ABI

The event is part of a process launched by ABI together with the banks in favor of enhancing diversity and inclusion policies in finance, a commitment that is also realized through the Charter initiative 'Women in banks: enhancing gender diversity', promoted by ABI since 2019, and which has been strengthened through the recent signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Department for Equal Opportunities of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers against gender violence, also in conjunction with FEduF, the Foundation for financial education and savings.  

The commitment of ABI and the banks in promoting equal gender opportunities also develops in the employment dimension, through the inclusion in collective bargaining of measures and instruments in favor of female employment and equal opportunities, as well as through participation in initiatives institutional, such as those within the newly established Equal Opportunities Committee of the CNEL.
