Banks: ABI, the Guide on how the Third Sector is changing

Raise awareness and strengthen the relationship between the banking world and the realities of the third sector, also through greater mutual knowledge. The in-depth analysis elaborated by ABI, the Italian Banking Association, with banks and consumer associations as part of the Simple Transparency project, and in collaboration with the Third Sector Forum, is dedicated to the reform of the Third Sector.

The project which envisages the dissemination of information and educational tools on subjects of interest to customers, to facilitate the use of banking and financial information, is thus enriched with a new tool to support citizens, a 'Guide' which, with simple and accessible language, illustrates 'What changes with the Third sector code'.

The third sector plays a fundamental role in the growth and development of the country, also from a sustainable point of view, and banks represent an important economic support and financing channel. There is a strong desire in the banking world to consolidate and strengthen the relationship and collaboration with the third sector, also by stimulating opportunities for in-depth study of initiatives promoted at community level to facilitate the construction of an increasingly effective and adequate regulatory framework, and creating synergies to promote training and learning on the main topics of common interest and their future developments.

The Guide is in digital format and is available online on the ABI website on the dedicated page (this is the link). For its wider dissemination, this new information and educational tool aimed at customers is available to banks and consumer associations that have collaborated in the initiative (ACU, Adiconsum, Adoc, Altroconsumo, Assoutenti, Casa del Consumatore, Centro Tutela Consumatori Users, Cittadinanzattiva, Codacons, Confconsumatori, Federconsumatori, Lega Consumatori, Movimento Consumatori, Movimento Difesa del Cittadino, U.Di.Con, UNC).

Numerous topics are reviewed including: who is addressed by the Third Sector Code; what is the Single National Register of the Third Sector for? what are the categories of third sector entities (so-called ETS) envisaged in the Single Register and what are the administrative and reporting obligations of these; how Third Sector Entities are financed and the role played by banks; what is meant by 'social enterprise'; What are the tax news? The final part is dedicated to what are the new relationships between ETS and public administrations.
