Biden and the world's greats: unanimous condemnation of Hamas and full support for Israel

The president of the United States Joe Biden, that of France Emmanuela Macron, the German Chancellor olaf sholz, the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the British Prime Minister Rishi sunak express firm and united support for the State of Israel and unequivocal condemnation of Hamas and its appalling acts of terrorism. This is reported by White House in a note after a telephone conversation between the leaders.

Thus in the White House statement: “In the coming days we will stand together as allies and as mutual friends of Israel, to ensure that it is able to defend itself and to create the conditions for a peaceful and integrated Middle East. We have made it clear that Hamas' terrorist actions have no justification, have no legitimacy and must be universally condemned. There is never any justification for terrorism. The protection of the lives of hostages, starting with children, even very young ones, is an absolute priority."

In press release from the Italian Prime Minister President Meloni, in reaffirming Israel's right to defend itself, indicated the need to work to avoid an expansion of the crisis at a regional level and to protect the civilian population involved. The five Heads of State and Government have agreed to remain in constant contact as the crisis continues.

In the meantime, the bodies of around 1.500 Palestinian terrorists have reportedly been found in Israeli territory, while the Gaza Strip is under total siege: no electricity, food, petrol. Israel is about to implement the ground operation. Over 900 Israelis have died after 108 bodies were found in Kibbutz Be'eri; 560 Palestinian victims. Hamas threatens to execute hostages. Among the kidnapped there are also two Italian-Israelis.

The White House is considering including aid to Ukraine in the urgent request for aid to Israel in the hope that this will increase the chances that the US Congress will approve support for Kiev, despite growing opposition from House Republicans. Informed sources reported this to the Washington Post. No final decision has been made, two senior US administration officials told the newspaper, but for the US administration such a move would "block the far right", which is strongly opposed to further aid to Kiev. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby assured reporters that “US support for Ukraine will continue. The United States is a country strong enough to support both Kiev and Israel. They are both important."
