BREXIT: The Promises of Theresa May

Brexit secretary David Davis, interviewed by the BBC, said Prime Minister Theresa May will offer EU citizens residing in the UK the same rights as the British. Davis in fact declared: "EU citizens will have the same rights as residents, same rights at work, health, welfare, pensions and so on", specifying however that the only thing they will not have is the right to vote , but they will be able to obtain it if they take citizenship ”. What was anticipated in the interview by David Davis is contained in the package of proposals of 15 pages that will be published today, together with a declaration in parliament. However, the rights will be granted only if there is reciprocity towards British residents in EU member countries. EU citizens who have settled in Great Britain before 29 March 2017, the date on which Article 50 was activated for the exit of Great Britain from the European Union, will benefit from this offer. This limit could be extended until the Brexit negotiations are over. The package also provides for the possibility of expelling European citizens guilty of serious crimes from the country by simplifying the existing rules which are more complex and difficult to implement.
