Canada: Secretary Tillerson's visit to Ottawa is an important opportunity to "strengthen the two countries' cooperation on regional and global issues"

The Canadian newspaper "Toronto Star" reports that, next week, Secretary of State Department Rex Tillerson, will meet Canadian Foreign Minister, Chrystia Freeland, in Ottawa to agree on the stalemate with North Korea and on the international conference that the two countries will jointly organize in the 2018.

For Minister Freeland, the visit of Secretary Tillerson is an important opportunity to "strengthen the collaboration of the two countries on regional and global issues".

So far, Tillerson has tried to avoid military appeal and rely on diplomacy, lobbying for China and Russia to do their part, even in opposition to President Donald Trump.

Tillerson's visit to Canada occurs at a not particularly comfortable time in the relations between the two countries both for matters relating to the NAFTA Treaty, and for those relating to the trade in coniferous wood and for aerospace tariffs.
