Uterine cancer: can disappear within the 2055. Diabetes and heart - hospital plan in Puglia

Woman-diabetes and heart, a self-sustaining bond that progresses. And not only.

(by Nicola Simonetti) The risk of death in diabetic women is five times more pronounced than in non-diabetic patients and twice as high as in diabetic men.

Cardiovascular diseases, thanks to immediate relief, new therapies and cardiology intensive care centers have seen a spectacular decline in the last 20-25 years. But not in those with diabetes.

The female paradox is that while in males this mortality has remained unchanged, in women with diabetes, it has increased by 10 percent.

Biological factors linked to the female hormonal structure, especially in the context of menopause, but above all the "undertreatment" of the pathology in women with respect to the greater therapeutic care taken in relation to man. And, unfortunately, this diagnostic-therapeutic derivation is not only Italian but concerns, where more or less, almost all countries.

Furthermore, women are carriers of a higher rate of "bad" cholesterol (LDL), which is what increases the risk of heart disease and other related diseases.

The cervical cancer problem sees the woman unprepared and neglected. "In 2018, the WHO director declared that this is" a public health problem ". It is the fourth type of cancer, the most common in women: 570.000 new cases diagnosed (how many unrecognized?) In the world in 2018. The Lancet Oncology, after a careful examination of vaccinations against human papilloma virus ( HPV) which, more frequently, is at the origin of the disease, have calculated that "this type of cancer could disappear by 2055, in most countries that have been careful to vaccinate girls (boys also benefit equally, also reducing the risk of hetero / homosexual contagion) in due course.

The woman - says Dr. Maurizio Guido, UOC director of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the “Miulli” regional general hospital in Acquaviva delle Fonti (BA) - deserves attention in differentiated research, in personalized therapy. Our hospital (which has earned 2 honorable mentions - "Bollini Rosa" - from ONDA, the National Observatory on Women's Health) has launched "the week in pink" (March 4-8 Open Week of visits and free exams with services and an interdisciplinary team of health professionals and other personnel dedicated, every day, to a different theme of female health. We will undertake, in particular, in the deepening and knowledge of the treatment and prevention of female infertility, menopause, pathologies of childbearing age, breast pathology and thyroid pathology so much so that, for an entire week, we will also dedicate our attention to these sectors of the female world and we will be available to provide evaluations, counseling and all the useful elements for information, knowledge and prevention of these pathologies. We will obviously not deflect from other pathologies affecting both sexes ".

“A singular initiative because - says Msgr. Domenico Laddaga, delegate of the Governor (who is the bishop of Altamura - Gravina - Acquaviva delle Fonti, Mons.Giovanni Ricchiuti) we propose a journey into the complex universe of women's health to help and support her along the different phases of life, from birth to adulthood, postmenopausal. A path that allows, through competent medical support, to address problems and raise awareness of issues specific to the female universe ".

The "Miulli in Rosa" also wants to be - and this originally characterizes the initiative that is scheduled for 2 years to then become routine - a training tool to encourage women to find out about the most common pathologies and to become more aware to better protect your health and make the best choices. The “F. Miulli ”is ready for a further, very ambitious effort: to get out of the lane.
