Catania: Disputed cell of the Nigerian criminal organization of the cultist denomination called Vikings, with operational base at the CARA di Mineo

The State Police of Catania, delegated by the District Anti-Mafia Prosecutor's Office, has executed a detention order against 19 people seriously suspected, for various reasons, of the crimes of mafia-type criminal association, criminal association aimed at illicit trafficking of narcotic or psychotropic substances, possession, transport and transfer of narcotic substances such as cocaine and marijuana, with the aggravating circumstance of having committed the crime using the conditions provided for by art. 416 bis of the Criminal Code and in order to facilitate the activity of the mafia-type association called “Vikings” and aggravated sexual violence.

The surveys conducted by the Catania Mobile Squad allowed to reconstruct the structure and roles of the aforementioned association characterized by the subdivision on Italian territory into groups, with expertise on specific portions of the territory, in particular by identifying the cell, operating in Catania and the province, with operational base at the CARA di Mineo (CT), dedicated to commit an indefinite number of crimes against the person, in matters of drugs and against heritage, imposing its hegemony on the territory, opposing and clashing with rival cultist groups in order to recruit and conserve dominance within the foreign communities present within that reception center, creating a strong omission.

During the investigations, rituals were intercepted from which emerged the fidelity of the members to the confraternity.

The details of the operation will be illustrated by the District Attorney of the Republic during a press conference to be held at the offices of the Procura della Repubblica di Catania located in Viale XX Settembre at 10.30.
