Conte grows in the polls but does not have the bank of Renzi

The premier Giuseppe Conte during the interview with the director of the press he said that the government is solid and that manages to work well with Italia Viva of Senator Matteo Renzi.

Strange, because for days the two have been launching real blows. Conte says that in the majority there are those who follow his "particular", citing Guicciardini. Renzi replies in tone: "Guicciardini very interesting but I have always preferred Machiavelli".

Renzi then goes down hard and advises the prime minister not to bask in the favorable polls: "Those of Big Brother (the reference is to the spokesperson for Conte, Casalino, ed)  they didn't understand - he explains to his - that in parliamentary democracy polls do not count but polling stations and Italia Viva has 17 senators. But we do not ask for undersecretaries and ministers: we make proposals without being heard".

Tale in the interview with the Press he shows his "modus operandi" inspired by the maximum reasonableness of the proposals: "beyond those who support them, regardless of whether they represent 2 percent or 25 percent of the country. When we deal with the heads of party delegations, everyone has the same weight".

But the Renzians do not believe in the impartiality of the premier because they have been asking for a shock plan since November to unlock public works without having ever received an answer: "We are people who don't complain - says the Renziano group leader Ettore Rosato - we want to help the country. But Conte rejects all the proposals that come from our ministers".

Italia Viva considers Conte a narcissus who lives looking in the mirror. Renzi is sure that at the latest in September there could be a moment of high tension between guaranteed and unsecured, between those who have a salary and freelancers, VAT numbers, who will have to close their business: "Here - Renzi explains to his people - instead of Conte I would leave the polls alone because the consensus suddenly turns like the wind in the mountains. In place of Conte I would work to unite not to divide ".

Renzi, writes La Stampa, confides in his parliamentarians that he has spoken with Gianni Letta and to have told him that if Berlusconi wants to give external support, he is willing to open the door and go to the opposition.

But Letta reassured the Tuscan senator: "this is not what Forza Italia wants". The Forza Italia line is clear: it is absolutely impossible to replace Renzi. If the government falls, make another one or go to elections. We do not act as a crutch to a leftist government. Leaving the center-right is impossible. We talk, we have responded to the appeal of the Head of State, but so far we have not been listened to.

But it's Berlusconi  to definitively clarify the diatribe by reiterating, in an interview with the Agi, the position of FI in the center-right.In the interview, he invites politics, in an emergency, to come together. He advises the premier to accept an authentic and not just formal collaboration as has been the case so far. We will have time to talk about the new political scenarios that we hope for when the emergency is over.
