Conte, Phase 2: it's just a test for the Italians

(John Blackeye) The press conference of the President of the Council of Ministers was expected around 20:30 pm and when President Conte showed up on TV, millions of Italians were ready to memorize the new detailed indications on the behaviors to adopt to face the reopening of the company while the pandemic is still in full swing. The challenge is enormous and therefore everyone was ready to listen to unimaginable solutions given the great experts who came out of nowhere and the scientists who collaborate with the Executive.

Instead, we were faced with a Prime Minister who put in place a rich electoral runway from which, while wanting to put all the effort possible, nothing has been understood. In reality it was understood that everyone in the government is good and that Italy is admired by everyone, but in the tunnel of phase 2, how do we get through?

What has been understood is that the government has laid down a chronological road map that tells us with certainty which productive and commercial activities they will be able to open and when they will be able to do so. Nothing has been said, however, on how it will be necessary to bring the Italian people on this tortuous path that crosses the world pandemic still in progress.

It has been understood for now that phase 2 is a kind of "test" for the Italians, because if the contagions were to rise uncontrollably, the red areas will return. Self-certifications do not disappear, they only increase their range of action: within each individual region. The games rooms will open but in the church you can only go to attend the funeral rites (max 15 people and only relatives). Instead, museums and galleries will open, with the necessary measures of social distance by wearing protective devices. So many contradictions and incomprehensible priorities given to the reopening of activities.

The verb that was repeated several times during the television monologue was, unfortunately, "we will" and when politicians talk to the future, the Italian flair leads one to think that there is nothing good behind it.

There has been talk of protocols drawn up by the competent departments about the solution of problems that are of most interest to the national community, such as school-age children and transport, but on these topics, also in front of a specific question asked at the end of the press conference, by a TG5 journalist on the solution hypotheses for children at home and parents at work, President Conte spoke about the coming hiring of temporary workers in the School, returning to an out of place electoral context, but without giving the journalist a concrete answer, coming out of the impasse with that verb conjugated to the future that tastes so much of a rip-off: we will do.

What we want to hope is that behind the electoral propaganda of tonight, put in place with a monologue with unified networks, there is really something concrete because the common impression of all Italians is that the summary of the speech could translate into this: "Italians: get by!"

Signing protocols or establishing rules that give indications that then cannot be implemented becomes a big problem not so much for the economy when for the sixty million Italians that if they were to judge by the words heard on TV tonight, they are left to their own destiny .

Writing decrees and not really thinking about the millions of parents who do not know who to leave their children with closed schools or to force the passengers of the trains and the subway to respect a meter of distance from each other when every morning you attend the assault on the diligence of public transport, could suggest, but you don't even want to think about it, meanwhile, it was decided to reopen production activities and then see what the company's reaction to the pandemic will be.

It is easy to wait with interest, sitting behind a desk, the results of the daily infections, Region by Region and then understand if it was well done to anticipate phase 2 or if you had to wait a little longer. The virus has not been defeated. It is easy to lead a nation by sacrificing the lives of Italians who could turn into percentage points on statistical evaluation scales that should make politicians understand if it can continue or if it must close again.

The responsibility that the Prime Minister Conte assumed at the beginning of the press conference could perhaps have criminal implications. Hopefully everything is going really well and that the Good Lord will take away this virus giving us back some serenity, because if tonight the President Conte wanted to instill tranquility in the Italian people, know for sure, that he had not succeeded.
