Coronavirus, Aidr: "Sos Italia" app, ready to go online

President Nicastri: "The goal is to simplify the management of the pandemic by the government and protect the health of citizens"

Useful info and numbers, health advice, rules to follow in terms of prevention, monitoring of travel. An absolute novelty, the latter, at least in Italy, to check in a moment if we have perhaps come into contact with people infected with the coronavirus. All this in a simple "app" on our smartphone. It's called "Sos Italia" and was designed by the members of Aidr - Italian digital revolution association (www.aidr.it), in collaboration, as regards software development, with the technological partner Sielte (www.sielteid.it) , current SPID manager, and with the support of its numerous partners (companies, universities, foundations, associations, newspapers, freelancers, public officials, etc.).

The app meets the requirements of the new government invitation "Innova for Italy", a joint initiative of the Minister for technological innovation and digitization, Paola Pisano, the Minister of Economic Development, Stefano Patuanelli and the Minister of the University and Research, Gaetano Manfredi, together with Invitalia and in support of the structure of the Extraordinary Commissioner for the Coronavirus emergency, Domenico Arcuri. The application will be available to citizens already two weeks after the start of the project, with the first features already in a week.

"Our technological solution - says Mauro Nicastri, of the Agency for Digital Italy and President of Aidr - takes into consideration the main needs encountered in these emergency days, combined with the needs of citizens, and has the aim of simplifying the management of the pandemic by the government and to protect the health of all citizens".

The app is equipped with a digital platform, which can only be accessed by subjects authorized by the Government, capable of collecting all the data entered by citizens and also the information already present in the information systems of the various governmental structures. The service offered, in addition to the app, is characterized by a set of activities that concern the organization, processes and technologies, and is offered free of charge to the Government.

The strengths are the possible use of this app also for future emergencies of this type, as well as the native integration with SPID (Public Digital Identity System), text messages with OTP on a telephone number or through common social networks (Facebook, Google, etc.).

Important traceability functionality, in compliance with the provisions of privacy, related to the explicit consent of the citizen. It starts with a self-diagnosis on the state of health of the citizen with a simple dedicated questionnaire. And yet complete digitalization of the process of self-declaration of the movements, to make timely the controls of the authorities and to analyze data in real time, at a macro level.
