First appointment of the year for the National Aerobatic Team of the Italian Air Force
The Frecce Tricolori will roll out the longest Tricolor in the world over the skies of Cortina: on Sunday 14 February on the occasion of one of the most iconic races of the Cortina 2021 Alpine Ski World Championships, the MB339PAN aircraft of the National Aerobatic Team will roll out on the finish line of the downhill the green, white and red of the Italian flag before the start of the men's race at 10.00.
In a breathtaking setting, among the majestic peaks of the Dolomites, a UNESCO heritage site, the Frecce Tricolori will carry out the first overflight of 2021, a prelude to an acrobatic season that will once again represent the ability of the men and women of the Air Force to team up , with the aim of bringing a message of hope, solidarity, economic and social recovery.
Preparation, speed, technology and team spirit are just some of the elements that unite alpine skiing athletes and the staff of the Frecce Tricolori, and more generally of the Air Force.
The Frecce Tricolori return to the skies of Cortina d'Ampezzo after 40 years: it was January 7, 1981 when the National Aerobatic Team spread the tricolor fumes on the occasion of the opening of the Bob World Championships hosted by the Queen of the Dolomites.
For the Frecce Tricolori, 2021 represents a special year: on March 1, in fact, the PAN will celebrate its 60th anniversary. The overflight on Sunday represents the first appointment on a journey towards this important anniversary.
The 313rd Acrobatic Training Group "Frecce Tricolori" of the Italian Air Force was born on the airport of Rivolto on 1 March 1961. For 60 years, their mission has been to represent the values and professionalism of all men and inside the Italian Air Force, both in Italy and abroad.
The National Aerobatic Team is made up of about 100 people: officers, non-commissioned officers and troop personnel who carry out their work every day with passion and competence to make the spectacular aerobatic flight program possible. A synthesis of skills and experience that represents not only the Armed Forces but the whole country system.
