In reality, what is passed off as a bill to protect LGBT minorities is actually a provision that aims to affect the freedom of opinion of Italians. In fact, the ZAN Bill, in general terms, provides criminal prosecution in the event that someone expresses a negative opinion towards gays, of lesbians and the LGBT world in general. That is, with the DDL ZAN anyone who has a different opinion of gays from that of gays becomes prosecutable. It is clear that here we are going to touch the freedom of thought of the Italian citizen and it is no longer a question of protecting a minority category. Despite this PD, M5S and Italia Viva are pushing to pass a clearly unconstitutional law.
Behind the DDL ZAN there is the unconstitutional attempt to shut the mouth of an entire people. In summary, saying that gays will all go to hell will become a criminal offense at the hands of a judge.
The "correct" spirit of the norm should instead be another. That is, I denigrate or harm a gay and at that point I become prosecutable but for this there are already other laws of the state that are already in force that intervene to protect all citizens. In fact, it is clear that if I attack a gay or lesbian I deserve to be punished as I deserve to be punished if I attack a man, a woman, a child, an elderly person, a foreigner, etc.
The DDL ZAN, on the other hand, goes further. It does not wait for there to be aggression towards gays but solves the problem at the root by punishing those who have opinions contrary to the world of gays, opinions that are completely legitimate. In fact, not everyone should be forced to think alike and everyone must be free to think what they want otherwise we are no longer in a democracy.
Can we therefore expect that in the future even those who do not have ideas of the left or right or those who love science rather than other doctrines will be prosecuted? But then there is no longer a rule of law.
Therefore, Parliament is free to legislate, as Draghi said, in a secular state but it is not free to propose and approve laws that are unconstitutional or that limit citizens' freedom of thought: this is dictatorship.
Returning to the Vatican. What is the problem?
