Aviation summit, De Micheli: "support for employment, technological innovation and green transition to restart the aviation sector"

Support for recovery and employment, green transition, technological innovation and guarantee of continuity for airlines and airport systems are the basis for the restart of the aviation sector illustrated by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Paola De Micheli during the "Aviation Summit" .

The videoconference summit dedicated to civil aviation, organized by the German Presidency of the European Union, was introduced by the Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure Andreas Scheuer and saw the participation, among others, of the European Commissioner for Transport Adina Valean.

In her speech, Minister De Micheli stressed that "for a full revitalization of air transport, preparatory measures for restarting must be introduced immediately, taking into account current and future challenges in the sector".

“For this reason we need flexible actions - he pointed out - that the Commission has already adopted in the most acute phase of the pandemic, especially on the subject of incentives, in a logic of transparency and balance. Also in support of the green transition, as a fundamental element of competitiveness not only for our companies but also for the infrastructural services of aviation. There is also the need to deal with the issue of taxation in a realistic and without prejudice a phase of severe crisis in the sector ”.

"It is necessary to focus on technology - he underlined - as a key tool to enhance health security systems and give more confidence to travelers, in the awareness that digitalization and technological innovation represent a pillar of the newly approved European plan of NextGenerationEu".

“In terms of liquidity, we need - he continued - not to put the weight of the crisis caused by the pandemic on people and workers. This is why we are preparing to renew some of the employment support tools already used and also through the European “Sure” mechanism we will accompany the whole sector out of the crisis ”.

"Employment support, green transition, continuity of our companies and our airport systems are objectives to be pursued - he concluded - through the keywords of flexibility and investments, proposals that have been incorporated in the joint document already presented with Germany , France and Spain presented to the European Commission ".
