Def, under examination tax deductions for incomes up to 35 thousand euros

The "80 euros" of the Renzi government could magically turn into tax deductions for incomes of up to 35 thousand euros. The Conte 2 government is studying them all to try to get out of the hat measures welcome to the middle class which for years has felt besieged by direct and indirect taxes.

The reduction in the cost of labor is also at stake, up to income of 26 thousand euros. Net of the measures in favor of workers, about 3,5 billion euros are missing. A commitment for the government of 0,15 percentage points of Pii (2,3 billion) in 2020, destined to rise, the following year, to 0,3 points of Pii, that is, equal to 5,5 billion.

The trade unions, which today could meet with representatives of the government, could ask to extend the tax advantage also to income up to 35 thousand euros to satisfy 4,5 million workers. The measure should start gradually from next year: the benefit should be around 500 euros per year, and then reach one thousand euros the following year. More delicate, writes the Sole24Ore, and technically more complex, is the other hypothesis under study, namely that of including the incompetent. Again according to the technicians, in this case, the deduction could act in the form of a credit to be collected at the time of the tax return or annual adjustment by the withholding agent. It must also be added that a slice of the incompetent, as also recognized by Pd exponents of the government, today, having the requisites, receives the citizenship income check; these are subjects waiting to be entered into the labor market.

With the addition of the new tax credit - without interventions on the DRC - some people could receive a higher subsidy, for example, than others who work, but have low incomes, just over 8/10 thousand euros. Hence the preference, on the part of the technicians of the Ministry of Economy, closer to the owner of the department Roberto Gualtieri, and of a majority shareholder, the Democratic Party, of the hypothesis of extending the deductions up to 35 thousand euros of income. This option is actually on the table, confirmed by the government: "we are open to trade union proposals on how to make the cut to the wedge", underlined the Undersecretary for the Economy, Pier Paolo Baretta. Still with a view to increasing workers' wages, the hypothesis of de-taxing from 2020 the wage increases for the renewal of national collective agreements through the introduction of a flat rate coupon at 10% is also being studied.
