Defense: advanced medical post in the Marche - third field structure completed since the beginning of the health emergency

At the request of the Minister of Defense Guerini, the Defense General Staff through the Operational Summit Interforces (COI) Command completed the construction of an advanced medical post in Jesi in less than 72 hours, thanks to the prompt intervention of the Marina S. Marco Brigade. of the Navy, which provided for the design, inspections, transport from Brindisi by land and the final assembly of the structure at the Carlo Urbani Hospital.

In Jesi, a functionally autonomous health complex was built with a capacity of 40 patients, which saw the use of about 60 men and women in the preparation operations and 5 doctors, 20 nurses and other 14 specialists and technical health workers who they will add to the health personnel who currently operate 24 hours a day in the field hospitals of Piacenza and Crema already built by the Army in the past few days in just 24 hours.

The Defense has guaranteed the availability of housing dedicated to health surveillance, distributed in military structures throughout the country, in favor of citizens positive for COVID 19 and therefore to be subjected to the necessary observation period. These activities, carried out by over 200 doctors and nurses, fall within the scope of the activities to implement the measures to combat the national emergency aimed at supporting the National Health Service in the acquisition of additional skills in terms of staff and beds.

Field hospital of Piacenza

Medical team is made up of 8 medical officers 12 non-commissioned officers and 18 health workers.

Accommodation capacity 40 hospitalization places. Availability of 3 places for sub-intensive therapy to stabilize any urgent cases.

In all the field structure consists of: 65 tents and 4 shelters (including hospital and attendance of military personnel).

The hospital is made up of twenty-nine tents (including an acceptance, two differentiated outpatient clinics for men and women, decontamination tents, dressing and undressing room, outpatient clinic for medical personnel, differentiated toilets for men and women) and 1 module sanitary with 3 pharmacy shelters.

Field hospital of Crema

Set up at the Maggiore hospital in Crema, Italian and Cuban doctors work. The military with 25 units guarantee the logistic support and the functionality of the structure which has the following capacities: 32 hospital beds (4 places for 8 tents) and 3 places in intensive care.

The intensive care module (equipped, among other things, with 3 surgical aspirators, 3 lung ventilators, 3 syringe pumps, 3 volumetric pumps, an echocardiograph, a blood gas analyzer and a bronchoscope) is divided into 3 shelters that make it autonomous for both 'supply of oxygen than for feeding.

The hospital is made up of 22 tents and 6 shelters (including a triage tent, an outpatient clinic, a medicine warehouse, dressing tents and an undressing tent for healthcare personnel, differentiated toilets, pharmacy module, radiology module).

Advanced Medical Post (PMA) at the Carlo Urbani hospital in Jesi

Mobile structure with accommodation capacity for 40 patients, characterized by high flexibility of use and composed of sanitary shelters, which can be boarded or even transported by land by means of a truck.

The sanitary complex is electrically autonomous thanks to a shelter with electric generator that also feeds the rigid structure tents assigned to hospitalization. 60 men guaranteed the preparation of the structure made up of 5 medical officers, 1 nurse officer (nursing coordinator), 15 non-commissioned officers, 1 biologist, 1 radiology technician, 1 physiotherapist and 10 health technicians.

The PMA facility also includes 1 ambulatory shelter for medical visits equipped with an electrocardiograph, ultrasound, pharmacy shelter, shelter with electric generator and a complex of tents for short stays.
