Didacta Italia, the main event on Italian schools and teacher training, returns from 8 to 10 March 2023. The three-day fair, scheduled at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, offers over 800 training events, including workshops, seminars and conferences, aimed at teachers, school managers and staff from the school world.

The Ministry of Education and Merit, which is part of the organizing committee, increases its participation this year through a large stand that focuses on an arena for the training of teachers, principals and school staff. The arena will be a meeting and exchange space between the public and the Administration. In the area of the Ministry there are also desks dedicated to welcoming and providing information on the activities of the MIM. There are about 70 events organized by the Ministry this year including conferences, seminars and workshops, with topics ranging from the PNRR to the National Digital School Plan (PNSD), from sport to energy saving, from the 0-6 system to ITS, from the Cinema Plan to collaborations with other institutions. For the opening conference, dedicated to the theme of orientation, a message from Minister Giuseppe Valditara is expected.

“This event fully represents the spirit of an intelligent school, innovative in all its aspects: starting from welcoming and stimulating environments, where every element, from lights to colours, up to air quality, contributes to the serenity of life at school ”, declares the Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara. “Each teacher within the institute should have his own furnished study, in which to do research, receive parents, prepare lessons. Just as it is important that teachers can benefit from continuous training throughout their career. School 4.0, as also indicated by the PNRR, must be a model in the use of technologies and artificial intelligence, topics that are increasingly on the agenda. I imagine the opportunities offered to students: following a lesson by an overseas luminary with simultaneous translation, instantly gaining access to the most advanced libraries in the world. The mission of the intelligent school is not only teaching but also research and many institutes have already taken this direction, some even producing patents. A new vision that involves STEM subjects: the teaching of mathematics that starts from reality and arrives at abstraction, and in this way aims to involve all students and not just those already inclined to the subject. This is our challenge, modernity and innovation, a school you enter with passion”.

“For the 2023 edition of Didacta Italia - declares Cristina Grieco, President of INDIRE - we present a very varied scientific program that aims to keep up with the innovation needs of the Italian school. The organizational effort for our Institute is really important, with over 130 training initiatives including seminars, immersive workshops and conferences. The 6 "departments" will be proposed again, in a much more dynamic formula, which will allow teachers of all levels to have an immersive and engaging learning experience. The conferences will be a great opportunity for in-depth study of various topics, from ITS to school and university orientation, from gender differences to school architecture. Fiera Didacta Italia - concludes Cristina Grieco - represents a by now consolidated appointment for the Italian school, in which as an Institute we can offer concrete and direct experience to teachers on the use of new teaching methodologies and a new way of organizing time and space for schooling".

“With more than 800 events and 342 exhibitors, we are preparing to open the sixth edition of Didacta Italia at the Fortezza da Basso with renewed pride and enthusiasm, declares Lorenzo Becattini, President of Firenze Fiera. “Thanks to the support of the Ministry of Education and Merit, the Ministry of University and Research, Indire, Didacta International and all the other members of the Organizing Committee, we have managed to give birth and grow in Florence (crossroads of different cultures ) the most important fair on training and didactic innovation in Italy”. “In a globally interconnected world, increasingly 'fluid' and one that is radically changing – concludes Becattini – I believe it is essential to start afresh from school, called to train aware citizens, without borders, citizens of the world. And Didacta Italia represents an unmissable appointment for all professionals in the sector, a privileged place for the construction of the citizens of the future".

This year's program includes many innovations, starting from the workshops on school architecture, with particular attention to the issues of sustainability and energy saving, and a green area, with a focus on the circular economy and the ecological transition . Among the various topics covered, a series of events will concern sport and motor activity, while a large immersive area will be dedicated to the hotel sector.

For the 2023 edition, dedicated this year to the writer Italo Calvino on the centenary of his birth, 6 departments will also be created, curated by INDIRE, during which teachers will be able to participate in a training course on a specific topic addressed by creating connections between the various educational disciplines. Of the 6 departments, 4 are aimed at secondary schools in the humanities, science, art and innovative school libraries, while the other 2 refer to the 0-6 segment and primary school.

A part of the initiatives concerns the conferences, with an interest on the themes of school and university orientation, on the teaching of physics, on overcoming the disciplines, on ITS (Higher Technical Institutes) at an international level, on artificial intelligence and on the differences of type.

On the last day of the Fair, March 10, "Montessori day" will be celebrated for the second consecutive year, a non-stop day in which it will be possible to delve into the history, ideals and modernity of this extraordinary innovative woman of a new didactic model.

During the three days of the exhibition, in addition to the training activities, the participants will be able to visit a rich exhibition section with 342 companies from the school and education supply chain: from the publishing sector to the latest generation information technology, from furniture to meals. Among the participants also numerous national and international institutions, scientific and cultural structures, universities, schools, associations, companies, foundations and museums.
