Nicastri: great enthusiasm of the students, exercises in virtual reality
The first meeting promoted by Aidr (Italian digital revolution association) within the European Skills program was dedicated to the Metaverse. European Parliament and Commission in the context of the European Year of Skills, promoted by the European Union.
The dissemination event took place within Spazio Europa – David Sassoli, the new multimedia center of the European institutions in Rome, and saw the participation of students from the Galileo Galilei high school in the capital. At the center of the meeting was the analysis of the new platform, the immersive experiences, the application tools of the new technology, the impact of the Metaverse on future professions. “Digital technologies offer a great opportunity for cultural and economic growth – underlined Fabrizio Spada, Head of Institutional Relations of the European Parliament, at the opening of the information session -. The Spazio Europa centre, named in memory of David Sassoli - he added - is equipped with viewers, to allow visitors to follow the sessions of the European Parliament live as if they were in the classroom. These tools will help bring citizens closer to the European institutions”.
“The enthusiasm registered by the students – the president of Aidr, Mauro Nicastri underlines in a note – is significant of how high the attention is on the issues of digital skills. Our country needs to recover the European gap, to promote economic and employment growth and the ecological transition. During 2023 - continues Nicastri - we are planning other dissemination events, which will be held in the European area and during which the main issues related to the impact of digital technologies will be addressed. Each session will also be made available online for free, to allow for the widest possible participation”.
