“Supervised” détente between Biden and Xi. They talked about Gaza while Hamas flees to the south and blends in with the population

The meeting between Biden e Xi Jinping in San Francisco, on the occasion of the summit Apec1 (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation), favors a “supervised” détente between the two superpowers. In the sense that if on the one hand progress has been made in mutually recognizing the interest in healthy economic competition, on the other the coldness remains regarding more thorny issues such as that ofTaiwan Island that Beijing would like to be totally inserted and subservient to the People's Republic of China (PRC). Xi has complained about the cumbersome presence of American military personnel in the Indo-Pacific. Biden, in response, said the Indo-Pacific is among the United States' national security policy interests.

With a view to resuming profitable relations, the line of communication between military leaders was reactivated in the event of a crisis and Beijing's commitment to reducing the export of chemical precursors for fentanyl was agreed. In return, Washington will remove sanctions on an institution linked to the repression of the Uighur population.

There has been some disagreement over American restrictions on China'schip export which could favor military technologies. On the use ofartificial intelligence in the command and control of nuclear weapons, the two countries have decided to delve into the thorny topic subsequently, through continuous discussion between experts in the sector.

Biden on the crisis in Middle East clarified the American position to Xi, also in light of the recent statements by Prime Minister Netanyahu who, after the conflict, would like to independently guarantee the security of the Strip: “the only response to the crisis is a two-state solution and that it would be a mistake to occupy Gaza.”

Hamas flees to the South

Under the hospital al-Shifa Only weapons and the body of one murdered prisoner, Yehudit Weiss, a mother of five who worked in the nursery on Kibbutz Be'eri, were found. Of the two hundred soldiers indicated by the intelligence, included in the alleged command and control structure beneath the hospital, there is no trace. The Israeli military suspects that thousands of Hamas militants would have crossed the Wadi Gaza, the canal that cuts the Strip in two to reach the South and blend in with the civilian population.

Yesterday the Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant announced, therefore, the start of the second phase of ground operations which will involve the South in the governorate area of Khan Yunis. Since yesterday, not surprisingly, the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) have issued the order to evacuate some eastern areas of the governorate.
