The Minister: “Extremely serious episode, solidarity with the professor. Fighting bullying and restoring the culture of respect in the classrooms"
The Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara telephoned Isabella Sgarbi, principal of the IIS "Viola Marchesini" of Rovigo, the school where some boys shot a teacher with a compressed air pistol, hitting her in the eye and in the head with rubber dots. First of all, the Minister wanted to express his solidarity and his closeness to the professor and the entire teaching staff for the very serious episode suffered. He then summoned the principal to the Ministry for Tuesday 24 January, asking her for an official and detailed report of the facts, the context in which they occurred and the parents' participation in their children's educational path. This is before making consequential decisions on the matter. “Firmly contrasting bullying and violence at school and restoring the culture of respect in the classrooms are two priorities of my action. Without them there can be no school system worthy of the name”, declared the Minister.
