Tomorrow in Genoa the Sea Day with Ministers Valditara and Musumeci

Workshops at the Porto Antico with 700 students in collaboration with the Coast Guard

Tomorrow, Friday 14 April, the Ministry of Education and Merit will celebrate Sea Day in Genoa in collaboration with the Coast Guard. Over 700 students from all over Italy will take part in the event.

Sea Day, established by Legislative Decree 229/2017, is celebrated every year on April 11 with the aim of promoting respect and protection of the marine environment and the development of sea culture, with particular reference to schools and to the students. Since this year April 11 falls during the closing period for the Easter holidays of the schools, the Ministry has decided to celebrate the Day tomorrow, April 14, in Genoa.

The Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara, the Undersecretary Paola Frassinetti, the Minister for Civil Protection and Marine Policies Nello Musumeci, the Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Edoardo Rixi, the Mayor Marco Bucci, the President of the Region will participate Liguria Giovanni Toti, the Commander General-Admiral Chief Inspector Nicola Carlone.

The appointment is from 9:00 in the Porto Antico of Genoa where students arriving from all over Italy will gather. During the day there are meetings, workshops and laboratories for students. It will always be the boys who will present the activities of the Nautical Institutes and there will also be moments of in-depth analysis and interventions by Associations and Institutes that collaborate with the Coast Guard in defense of the environment. A musical intervention is planned by the students of the "Sandro Pertini" Liceo Musicale.

In addition, the winning institutes of the "Citizenship of the Sea" competition will be awarded, this year dedicated to the theme "Energy sources in times of crisis and their sustainability", with particular reference to renewable sources and their effects on the marine and coastal environment and on communities living near the sea. Students participated with literary works, artistic essays, poems, drawings, videos, songs and podcasts. The goal of the day and related activities is to make students active citizens and aware of the sea and the environment, guardians of the conservation and enhancement of a vital asset for the planet, as well as speakers of a culture of which, historically and traditionally, the sea itself is the bearer.
