Double murder of Camaro: State Police and carabinieri weapon, arrest the fugitive

In the morning today, the State Police and the Carabinieri of Messina arrested the fugitive from Messina Claudio Costantino, alleged perpetrator of the double murder that took place last January 2 in Camaro, where Giovanni Portugal and Giuseppe Cannavò lost their lives.

The subject, following the investigations carried out by the soldiers of the Carabinieri Company of Messina Centro and by the policemen of the Mobile Squad of the Messina Police Headquarters, in the phases immediately following the serious crime of blood, had been the recipient of a precautionary custody order in prison issued by the GIP of the Court of Messina at the request of the local Public Prosecutor's Office.

The arrest order, however, had remained unexecuted because the suspect had immediately lost track of him.

The investigations by the specialists of the Mobile Squad and the Carabinieri, coordinated by the Messina Prosecutor - District Anti-Mafia Directorate, made it possible to reconstruct the route that led the fugitive to the countryside of Rosarno, where this morning he was located and arrested.

Inside the den, at the time of the blitz, the policemen of the Mobile Squads of Messina and Reggio Calabria, and the soldiers of the Carabinieri Provincial Command of Messina found two forged identity documents and a mobile phone, now being examined by investigators.
