E-Mobility: Enel x, Be Charge and Eni in synergy for the charging of electric vehicles

Enel X, Be Charge, a company controlled by Eni gas and electricity (Plenitude since 2022), and Eni have signed agreements that allow electric drivers to fill up their vehicles with energy throughout the country using the infrastructures of the three companies, which they can count about 20 thousand electric recharging points.

Enel X, the largest operator in the country's public charging infrastructure sector with over 13 points, and Be Charge, the second largest player in Italy, manage the country's main electric vehicle charging networks. They have a widespread presence in all regions and in the main cities and an investment plan that aims to spread e-mobility also thanks to the installation of high-power chargers that allow an ultra-fast, easy and completely safe charging experience. .

The partnership between the companies enables interoperability between their charging networks, giving customers the possibility to access the service easily from their smartphone through the Enel X, Be Charge and Eni Live apps, and thus to recharge indifferently on the networks. by Enel X and BeCharge.

"The interoperability of the charging infrastructures is a fundamental element in the strategy of spreading electric mobility in Italy and that is why we are very satisfied to have reached an agreement with Be Charge and with Eni, operators who like us strongly believe in electrification. of transport ”declared Federico Caleno, Electric Mobility Manager for Italy. “In recent years we have created a capillary charging network that covers the whole peninsula and allows people to drive an electric car in total tranquility. Today, through this collaboration, we further demonstrate how important it is to work in synergy with partners to ensure that the transition to electric becomes ever easier and more convenient ".

“The agreements fit perfectly into Be Charge's strategy of offering travelers an increasingly easier energy refueling experience and even more innovative services. Thanks to strategic partnerships, such as those with Enel X and Eni, we want to confirm once again our commitment to sustainable mobility, a key element for the energy transition to which we wish to contribute through an appropriate diffusion of recharging systems and infrastructures for their management. In fact, we have a rapid growth plan in Europe that aims to reach over 31.000 charging points by 2030 ”declared Simone Zuccotti, President of Be Charge and Head of Innovation and Business Development of Eni gas and electricity.

"This synergy is part of Eni's broader strategy for the mobility of the future, which includes the evolution of the current service stations, 'mobility points' in which we foresee, among other things, the offer of fast and ultra-fast refills for electric mobility. The plan includes the installation of over 1.000 columns on the network of our stations in Italy and abroad by 2025 ”said Giovanni Maffei, Eni's Green and Traditional Refining & Marketing Sales Manager. “Furthermore, in our Eni Live app, which already allows motorists to access various services with increasingly automated, efficient and secure payments, interoperability for electric vehicle charging is included”.

The agreement benefited from the exemption from the application of the regulations on transactions between related parties pursuant to the procedures adopted by Enel and Eni.

Enel X is the Enel Group brand for services that accelerate innovation and guide the energy transition. World leader in the sector of advanced energy solutions, Enel X manages services such as demand response for 7.7 GW of total capacity globally and 195 MW of storage capacity installed worldwide. On the occasion of Capital Markets Day 2021 and the presentation of the Enel Group's 2022-2024 Strategic Plan, the creation of a Business Line dedicated to Electric Mobility was announced for the management of the approximately 245 public and private charging points for electric vehicles available in all the world1 and the promotion and development of projects and services for the diffusion of e-mobility in the countries where the Enel Group operates.

The mission is to become the protagonist of the radical transformation taking place in the energy sector by involving, through an innovative management of digital flows, the new activities of the energy market with the electric mobility sector. Through one of the largest and most widespread networks of public charging infrastructures for electric vehicles in Italy, Be Charge wants to make a decisive contribution to the development of a sustainable mobility system. At the moment there are approximately 6,5 thousand recharging points distributed throughout the country: the stations are smart and user-friendly, monitored 24 hours a day by a help desk and accessible via the application for mobile devices. Within the sector supply chain, Be Charge plays both the role of manager and owner of the charging infrastructure network (CPO - Charge Point Operator), and that of supplier of charging and electric mobility services that interfaces with the users of electric vehicles (EMSP - Electric Mobility Service Provider). The Be Charge charging stations are of the Quick type (up to 24 kW) in alternating current, Fast (up to 22 kW) or HyperCharge (above 150 kW) in direct current.

Eni is an integrated energy company with over 30.000 employees in 68 countries around the world. In 2021, the company launched a new strategy that will allow it to supply a variety of fully decarbonised products, combining environmental and financial sustainability.
