It's time for La Duecento of the Santa Margherita Nautical Club

In a week the start on the Caorle-Grado-Sansego route

On April 29, one of the most popular regattas in the Adriatic returns, La Duecento, organized by the Circolo Nautico Santa Margherita in collaboration with the Main Sponsor Birra Castello, the Municipality of Caorle and the Darsena dell'Orologio.

The twenty-ninth edition will exceptionally start on Saturday, to make the most of the holidays, and will end on Monday 1st May.

The Duecento, the third stage of the Italian Offshore Championship of the Italian Sailing Federation, valid for the assignment of the Masserotti Trophy, will take place along the route from Caorle to Sansego passing through Grado, in the XTutti and X2 categories with the ORC, IRC and Mocra compensated systems for Multihulls.

One week before the start, there are over fifty boats registered, coming from all over the Adriatic and from Austria, Germany, Croatia and Slovenia.

“The Duecento is a regatta that has been held for many years and occupies a special place in the history of our partnership. It is the second appointment of the season and the number and quality of the members are a great satisfaction for us.” declares Gian Alberto Marcorin, President of the Circolo Nautico Santa Margherita "All the staff of the Club, in collaboration with the Darsena dell'Orologio, is working to prepare the program in the best possible way and ensure everyone an engaging regatta on land and competitive at sea, in the best Adriatic offshore tradition.”

The largest fleet with thirty members will be in the XAll category, where in addition to the aficionados of the regatta there will be new faces, competitive boats and interesting projects.

It is early to understand if there will be the conditions for a new distance record, which has remained unbeaten since 2010 and belongs to the Vor70 E1 with just over a day of distance, but someone will certainly be aiming for the Castello Line Honor Trophy, such as Anywave, Frers64 helmed by Alberto Leghissa in command of an expert and close-knit crew, Salvatore Costanzo's QQ7 Farr53 and also Sergio Taccheo's Athyris, GS48, at his first La Duecento.

Among those who will compete for the class victories or the absolute ORC compensated times there are certainly Renoir, Mario Pellegrini's GS40, class B winner of the 2022 Italian Offshore Championship, Harahel, Vivila Sailing Team's GS40 helmed by Gianluca Celeprin who presents himself as defender, Mecube Gruppo Hera EE, Farr400 of Stefano Novello, Farraway, Farr40 of Alessandro Fiori and Luna per Te, Millenium 40 of Sporting Club Duevele.

In the X2 category, the battle promises to be interesting and at a very high level, starting with the absolute Italian Offshore Champion and X2 in charge, Massimo Juris with his JPK 10.80 who appears at the start with Andrea Jacopini, Hauraki, Millenium 40 of the well-tested Mauro couple and Giovanni Trevisan and Karnak, Class 40 by Stefano Raspadori with Michele Mazzotti.

Equally competitive in their respective classes, among others, there will be the Tasmania regulars, Antonio Di Chgiara/Walter Svetina's First 40.7, Massimo Minozzi/Fabio Schaffer's Tokio J99, Nicola Borgatello/Silvio Sambo's Demon-X X35, the small and fast Mr Hyde by Marco Rusticali/Riccardo Rossi and the new entries One&Only, SF3600 by the Austrians Fuchs Josef/Dall'Acqua Gabriele and Vola Viola, GS40 by Saverio Sabbioni/Daniele Belluzzi.

Also unmissable are the Austrian and German trimarans that will race in the Mocra class dedicated to them, with the winners of Christoph Nitsch's Lightness leading the way.

The official program of La Duecento will open on Friday 28 May at the parterre of the Darsena dell'Orologio with the Technical and Weather Briefing, followed by the crews who will move to the nearby Sporting Restaurant for traditional refreshments.

The regatta will start on Saturday 29 April at 9.00 from the stretch of sea in front of the Caorle promenade and can also be followed from home thanks to satellite detectors by connecting to the cnsm.org website or on the Porto Santa Margherita Nautical Club Facebook page.
