Migrants emergency: Lamorgese alone goes out of her way and asks for help from the Defense

Compared to the same period in 2019, landings have tripled reaching the figure of 12.228 of which only in July 5.278, a third equal to 4354 are Tunisians.

(by Massimiliano D'ELIA) Tunisia is suffering a serious economic crisis because it can no longer take advantage of tourism revenues due to the effects of the CoViD-19 pandemic. This shows the surge in arrivals of migrants who are not exactly fleeing a war or because they are victims of persecution. Yesterday the arrival of a family of eleven people landed with a poodle, luggage in tow wearing typical tourist clothes, attracted the spotlight of the media.

They too were sent to one of the many Sicilian overcrowded hot spots for the planned health screenings (serological tests and swabs). We are talking about structures that can accommodate up to 700 people compared to the expected 80. Faced with a mandatory quarantine period, in overcrowded centers where living conditions are probably more hellish than from the places where they fled, migrants flee: “The important thing is to be able to get away from those“ chicken coops ”.  The events that took place in Porto Empedocle and Caltanissetta, where according to the respective mayors, the situation is out of control: about a hundred migrants have escaped the weak security meshes of the collection centers. The minister Lamorgese  he said it's about "uncontrolled flows that create serious problems in Italy linked to national health security and that inevitably reverberate on the local communities affected by the reception centers ". Faced with the general flight, and the grievances of local Sicilian communities, the central government has decided to intervene, or the Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese is trying to take cover when the dam has already broken the banks.

The government has decided to send the army to check the hot spots, to contain the bleeding. Defense, when called, is always ready to intervene. The Minister of the Interior Lamorgese in some of his statements revealed a feeling now common to most of the majority: Prime Minister Conte's lack of interest in hot dossiers those that could undermine his consent. The Interior then asked for help from the Guerini ministry. There would be 300 soldiers who will be diverted from the Safe Roads operation and deployed in Sicily where they are thinking of using disused barracks to set up tensile structures. A ship with around 1000 seats is also being examined to keep migrants in quarantine, certain that they will not be able to escape from there. The Foreign Minister also showed veiled nervousness, Luigi Di Maio"Here is a public health issue. The virus has not gone away. The state has a duty to deal with these kinds of problems". A dig, addressed to Giuseppe Conte who, however, has an alibi: he is grappling with many other disputes relating to the set up task force-interministerial table for the Recovery Fund and the request to Parliament for a further budget variance. Meanwhile, Lamorgese is bending over backwards, yesterday she was in Tunis to ask the president Kais Saied a decisive action of Tunisia in controlling the coasts to stem departures. The Italian proposal is that of substantial economic aid for several million euros. Thirty of the Interior Ministry with a three-year plan, plus funds from the Farnesina and those from the EU.

Tunisian President Saied showed his personal satisfaction with the meeting but immediately beat money: "We need to set up a radar, train the coast guard and ensure the maintenance of the patrol boats."

The question arises spontaneously, but where is the Europe of solidarity that is so acclaimed in sharing the community debt with the Recovery Fund?

Could the 208 billion euros granted to Italy (102 in loans) be the price paid to stop talking about the redistribution of migrants in Europe?
