Enav and Leonardo strengthen collaboration on international markets

The agreement, lasting 24 months, aims to develop new services and technologies with high added value in the field of air traffic management

Cutting-edge technologies, innovative solutions and services aimed at improving air traffic management and safety. These are the key points of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ENAV SpA e Leonardo, with which the two companies intend to strengthen their collaboration and operate jointly in the Air Traffic Management (ATM) market in Italy and abroad.

The agreement, signed by the CEO of ENAV, Pasqualino Monti, and by the Co-General Director of Leonardo, Lorenzo Mariani, aims at an industrial and commercial partnership for the development of a portfolio of technologies and systems with high added value in the field of air traffic management. The scope of the agreement, lasting 24 months, also includes the offer of joint services: from the training of operational staff, to the validation of new sensors, up to the definition of flight procedures.

This signature lays the foundation for maximizing the production and engineering content of the two organizations and the national supply chain".

"ENAV and Leonardo have been dedicated for years to innovation and technological development to improve the overall effectiveness, safety and reliability of air traffic management infrastructures and systems", underlined the Co-General Director of Leonardo, Lorenzo Mariani. “Now, with this new commitment, we want to strengthen these objectives and together build innovative business models with a strong international footprint, leveraging our mutual strengths".

The two companies have been working together for some time in the development of advanced radar, surveillance systems, communication technologies, air traffic management software and satellite navigation procedures. Leonardo and ENAV are also partners in the most recent initiatives related to the management of drone air traffic.

The agreement may form the subject of subsequent binding agreements that the parties will define in compliance with the applicable legislation, including that relating to transactions between related parties.

ENAV is the company that manages civil air traffic in Italy, guaranteeing approximately 2 million flights a year safety and punctuality 24 hours a day, through the provision of air navigation services to companies flying in Italy.
