Enel from the way to the production of the Dolphin wind farm

Rome, Rio de Janeiro, 30 August 2017 - Enel, through the Brazilian renewable subsidiary Enel Green Power Brasil Participações (“EGPB”), started production of the Delfina wind farm, which has a total installed capacity of 180 MW. The plant is located in the municipality of Campo Formoso in the northeastern state of Bahia, Brazil.

"The entry into operation of Delfina, Enel's largest wind farm in Brazil, testifies to our team's ability to build and operate our plants quickly and efficiently, making Brazil one of the countries most contributing to Group growth in renewables, "says Carlo Zorzoli, Enel Country Manager in Brazil. "The launch of Delfina's production strengthens our commitment to the growth of the Brazilian renewable sector, and thanks to the sustainable initiatives we are implementing in areas adjacent to the plant, we contribute to local biodiversity and the development of nearby communities."

For the construction of Delfina, the Group has invested approximately $ 400 million of US dollars into the company's strategic investment plan and will be funded in part from its own funds, as well as through funding from the Brazilian Development Bank ("BNDES" ).

Delfina is able to generate over 800 GWh per year, equal to the annual energy demand of 390.000 Brazilian households, avoiding the emission of over 490.000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. EGPB built approximately 90 kilometers of transmission line to connect the wind farm to the nearby power distribution substation, located in the city of Juazeiro.

In line with the Creation of Shared Value (CSV) model adopted by the Enel Group to reconcile the development of the company with the needs of local communities, EGPB has launched a series of initiatives in the areas close to the Delfina plant, including programs innovative for the conservation of two local endangered species, Lear's indigo macaw and Caatinga's puma. In collaboration with local associations, Enel also offers qualification courses to local communities, such as courses for entrepreneurship and training courses for carpenters and electricians, helping to generate income.

In the state of Bahia, the subsidiary EGPB of the Enel Group, currently manages 891 MW of wind and solar capacity and is building further facilities in these two technologies for a total of 420 MW.

In Brazil, the Enel Group is present with its subsidiaries EGPB and Enel Brasil with a total renewable capacity of 1.839 MW, including 670 MW of wind power, 279 MW of solar photovoltaic and 890 MW of hydroelectric power, and approximately 720 MW of capacity Currently under construction, of which 172 MW wind and solar 541 MW.

Enel Green Power is the renewable division of the Enel Group that deals with the development and management of renewable plants all over the world, with a presence in Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Oceania. World leader in the clean energy sector with a managed capacity of 38 GW and a generation mix that includes wind, solar, geothermal, biomass and hydroelectric, Enel Green Power is at the forefront of integrating innovative technologies such as storage systems in renewable plants.
