Eni confirms the extension and excellent production capabilities of the Cronos gas discovery, offshore Cyprus

Eni announces that it has successfully completed the Cronos-2 well, drilled to test the Cronos discovery, made in Block 6, offshore Cyprus, in August 2022. The production test allowed us to estimate a well capacity of more than 4,2 .XNUMX million cubic meters of gas per day in production configuration, and is instrumental in advancing studies on fast-track development options.

Cronos-2 was drilled to confirm the lateral extension of the Cronos gas discovery (made with the Cronos-1 exploratory well), located approximately 3 km away, to evaluate the characteristics of the field by performing a production test. The well encountered the same carbonate sequence as Cronos-1, confirming its hydraulic communication and important gas column with excellent permeability ranges.

Along with extensive data acquisition, Cronos-2 underwent a prolonged production test that demonstrated the excellent production capability of the gas discovery.

Cronos-2 is the fourth well drilled by Eni in Block 6, after the gas discoveries of Calypso in 2018 and Cronos and Zeus in 2022. The drilling of Cronos-2, which occurred a short time after the discovery of Cronos, confirms the commitment of Eni and its partner TotalEnergies to accelerate the choice of the most suitable and economical development solution to contribute to the supply of gas to Europe and the region.

Eni has been present in Cyprus since 2013. Block 6 is operated by Eni which holds a 50% share with TotalEnergies as partner. Eni also operates blocks 2, 3, 8 and 9 and has interests in blocks 7 and 11 operated by TotalEnergies.
