Eni and Dompé together for research activities in the health sector

The CEO of Eni, Claudio Descalzi, and the Executive President of Dompé farmaceutici, Sergio Dompé, today signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to start joint research and development activities regarding the health of people and communities in the territories in which Eni operates and more generally global health issues.

Following the European Exscalate4Cov project aimed at identifying solutions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic emergency, Eni and Dompé Farmaceutici decide to start joint research activities again, sharing molecular modeling skills through the use of High performance.

On the basis of the Letter of Intent, Eni guarantees Dompé researchers the use of its laboratories, the support of the company's specialized staff and the use of the computing power of the HPC5 supercomputer, with the aim of accelerating the identification of new drugs and vaccines capable of responding increasingly quickly and effectively to epidemics. Furthermore, a focus is envisaged on the study of health safety in relation to new energy supply chains as well as on the periodic monitoring of high-incidence infections in the contexts in which Eni is present.

Today's signature represents a further step in Eni's path which, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, intends to contribute to ensuring management of the health and well-being of its people based on precautionary principles, prevention and promotion of well-being.
