Eni and the University of Naples Federico II together for the development of the sustainable industry of the future

Eni and the University of Naples Federico II today signed a collaboration agreement on research and development issues in the world of energy, the circular economy and Industry 4.0. The three-year collaboration provides for the development of multiple sectors in which the Campanian University boasts various excellence, including the development of technologies for renewable energy, industrial automation and advanced robotics, Big Data & Analytics and innovative materials for optimization of production processes.

A strategic alliance that faces the challenges of sustainable development based on the circular economy and the energy transition, innovation and the industry of the future. Among the research and technological innovation initiatives, involving Eni and the University, are the "National Operational Program (PON) - Biofeedstock" for the valorization of waste biomasses, the "Competence Center Industry 4.0" on the topics of advanced analytics of the production facilities, the "Blue Growth Technology Cluster" focused on research and innovation for the industries that make the sea its own wealth, and the "Eni-CNR Joint Laboratory", Portici's research center on the issues of precision agriculture developed in collaboration with the University's Department of Agriculture.

Eni and Federico II have previously collaborated in the field of oil exploration, carrying out important codes of analysis of seismic data, in the search for innovative solutions for aerial robotics and in the study of vehicle emissions.

The agreement is part of the Eni model, aimed at creating collaborations with the research world, focusing on the involvement of partners right from the design stages of the technology portfolio through the sharing of industrial needs and with the aim of encouraging the creation of efficient innovation.

The alliance will allow Eni to expand its network of excellence with various research and innovation companies, already consolidated with the Milan and Turin Polytechnic, to achieve sustainable development in the energy sector, adopted as a growth strategy for the company and for the country.
