Eni gas e luce launches "Smart & Efficient Buildings": the Call for Innovation open to Startups and SMEs for the energy efficiency of apartment buildings

Eni gas e luce's Call for Innovation Smart & Efficient Buildings starts today, created in collaboration with Digital Magics, the most important "Made in Italy" digital startup incubator active throughout the Italian territory, and aimed at innovative Startups and SMEs that are developing cutting-edge products and services in the condominium sector to make buildings more efficient, autonomous, safe and comfortable for the people who live there.

The goal of the Call for Innovation is to invite innovative Start-ups and SMEs to propose cutting-edge solutions, leveraging both energy efficiency technologies in buildings and digital ones, to evolve Eni's current offer of gas and electricity for the energy efficiency of apartment buildings and allow people to live better the environments in which they live.

Starting today and until May 19, participants will have the opportunity to propose their solutions on the Open Innovation section of the Eni gas and light portal. It will be possible to send your application for the following areas of interest: energy efficiency for a sustainable building; safety and security and digital services for a better living. Selected candidates will have the opportunity to present their innovative solutions to Eni gas and light, to experts in the corporate network and to the team of Digital Magics specialists. The finalists will also be able to become part of Eni's gas and light innovation ecosystem and will have the opportunity to be selected for potential collaborations and future business opportunities.

In fact, our country pursues an important goal: the reduction of 39,7% final energy consumption within the 2030, as defined in the National Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) and the improvement of the energy performance of buildings plays a fundamental role in the contribute to this result. Suffice it to say that our country's housing stock contributes to the annual final energy consumption of around 40% and produces around 36% of CO2's annual emissions. Furthermore, the 70% of buildings was built prior to the first standard for containing energy consumption dating back to the 1976 (Law n. 373 / 1976).

The Smart & Efficient Buildings initiative is therefore perfectly in line with Eni's gas and light mission which intends to transform the relationship between people and energy, to use it less and better. For
