Eni - Ken Bau's potential increased

Eni confirms and increases the potential of Ken Bau's gas and condensate discovery, in Exploration Block 114 in the Song Hong basin, in the Offshore of Vietnam

Eni informs that the Ken Bau-2X exploration well, located in Block 114 in the Song Hong basin, offshore Vietnam, has confirmed the significant accumulation of hydrocarbons associated with the discovery of Ken Bau, increasing its potential.

Ken Bau 2X was drilled 2km from the discovery well, in 95m of water reaching a depth of 3658m below sea level. The well encountered gas and condensate mineralization over a total thickness of over 110 m in various ranges of Miocene sandstones interspersed with clays.

The well has undergone an intense data acquisition campaign including sampling of fluids in the various levels that have been mineralized. The well will now be mined.

Preliminary accumulation estimates after data acquired on Ken Bau 2X indicate a discovery of between 200 and 250 billion m3 of crude gas in place with 400 - 500 million barrels of associated condensate.

Ken Bau 2X results confirm the importance of the discovery made in 2019 and the commitment of Eni Vietnam and its partner Essar E&P to quickly outline its potential, despite the operations being conducted in a particularly challenging period due to the epidemic COVID-19.

Eni Vietnam is the operator of Block 114 with a 50% equity interest; Essar E&P holds the remaining 50%. Based on these results, Eni Vietnam and its partner are planning a further delineation well on the Ken Bau discovery and in the same Song Hong basin, where Eni operates the nearby Block 100 with 116% participatory interest, a new prospecting activity. and perforation.

The gas market in Vietnam is growing rapidly, in response to the constant progress of national GDP and the consequent development of gas plants for the production of energy powered by national resources and, in the future, by imported LNG. Ken Bau's discovery represents an opportunity to quickly meet this emerging question.

Eni has been present in Vietnam since 2013 and operates 4 blocks located in the under-explored basins of Song Hong and Phu Khan, in the offshore of central Vietnam.
