On the occasion of the week of the leaders of the UN Global Compact, Eni has been recognized as one of the most active participants in the largest enterprise sustainability initiative in the world.

"This recognition is an important testimony to our commitment to integrate sustainability into each of our activities and an encouragement to continue to combine it with financial stability," said Claudio Descalzi, Eni's managing director. "Environmental, social and business sustainability are essential to help us shape the future," he added.

Donation campaignEni's business model focuses on long-term investments, going beyond short-term profit targets, transforming the company and making it ready to face global challenges and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals ( SDG) of the United Nations. It allows sustainability to be integrated into all company activities - from reducing greenhouse gas emissions to respecting the environment; from human rights to the formation of people; from the promotion of local development to access to energy.

As part of the initiatives to follow this strategy, Eni is working in partnership with international organizations, governments and non-governmental organizations to promote sustainable development in host countries, with a specific focus on the SDGs. Eni has signed partnerships with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for access to clean and safe water; with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to combine efforts on the issues of access to energy and sustainable development; and with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) to focus on youth employment, the value chain of the agri-food chain, renewable energy and energy efficiency.

A further recognition of Eni's commitment to sustainability comes from the Corporate Human Rights Benchmark (CHRB): Eni - the only energy company among the six selected companies - was chosen, in the upcoming CHRB report on how to learn from similar companies ("Learning from Peers"), as an example to highlight potential approaches to more effective human rights management. Eni's practices are used as a case study in the section on business practices on human rights ("Performance: company human rights practices") which assesses the factors and processes that allow the respect of rights and the prevention and mitigation of risks and impacts on rights human.
