Eni successfully drills Agogo-2, the first appraisal of the discovery of Agogo, in Angola

Eni has successfully drilled the Agogo-2 well, the first appraisal well of Agogo's discovery, in the 15 / 06 Block, offshore Angola. The results confirm the 650 million oil estimate in place in the Agogo field and show further potential in the northern area, which will be the subject of the continuation of the delineation campaign.

Agogo-2 was drilled by the Poseidon drilling vessel at about 3 km northwest from the Agogo-1 discovery well, about 180 km from the coast and 23 km west from the FPSO N'Goma (West Hub), in one water depth of 1.700 m, reaching a total depth of 3.949 meters.

Agogo-2 met 58 m of light oil (31 ° API) in sandstones of the Miocene and Oligocene ages with excellent petrophysical properties and confirms the extension of Agogo's discovery north of the discovery well, below the saline diapirs. The well was in fact designed and drilled in a high deviation to reach the sequences below the salt diapiro, to prove the existence of reservoirs and mineralization also in this part of the Agogo megastructure. An intense data acquisition campaign was carried out in the well which indicated a production capacity of the well above the 15.000 barrels of oil / day.

The Joint Venture of Block 15/06, formed by Eni (operator, 36,8421%), Sonangol P&P (36,8421%) and SSI Fifteen Limited (26,3158%), intends to bring the first Agogo well into production within 2019, linking it to N'Goma's FPSO. In the meantime, Eni will continue the delineation operations to assess the full potential of the discovery and adequately size its development.

Angola is a key country for Eni's organic growth strategy. The company has been present in the country since the 1980, and today has an equity production equal to 150.000 barrels of oil equivalent / day. In the 15 / 06 Block Eni operates the West Hub and East Hub development projects that currently produce 155.000 days oil barrels (100%). Eni is also the operator of the onshore Cabinda Norte block.
