Eni Rewind: assignment for the remediation of the soil and aquifer of the former Ilva

Eni Rewind, Eni's environmental company and center of excellence in the remediation and enhancement of natural resources from a circular perspective, expands the scope of its activities outside the group with a mandate from ArcelorMittal Italia for assistance in planning remediation interventions of the ex Ilva area in Taranto.

ArcelorMittal Italia intends to make use of the skills and experience of Eni's company for the design of further environmental interventions in the areas of the site. The contract also includes specialized assistance in the authorization process aimed at the approval by the bodies in charge of the project for the operational safety of the ArcelorMittal Italia plant in Taranto.

As part of the environmental investigations, already launched by ArcelorMittal, further characterizations of the soils, on which the plants extend, are envisaged, through 3D and hydrogeological conceptual models. The objective is to collect further information for updating the safety measures already in place and for the planning of the operational safety of the area, minimizing the impact on the operations of the steel industry.

Eni Rewind, with the progressive growth of its role from Eni's global contractor for environmental activities to a company operating on behalf of third-party companies, intends to enhance on the market the skills acquired and the technologies validated through the implementation of complex and Italy and abroad, in line with the mission of sustainable development of the territories. A mission that, from 2019, is explicit in the name of the company itself: Rewind is in fact the acronym of REmediation and Waste INto Development.
