Army: sanification of the Roman Churches is underway

The Departments specialized in the chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear fields secure the places of worship in the Roman area

Starting tomorrow, the Italian Army, at the specific request of the Vicariate of Rome, will start the sanitation activities of the external and internal areas of the Capitoline Churches through its specialized teams in the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) fields. equipped with large capacity remediation devices.

The activity, in collaboration with the Municipality of Roma Capitale, will proceed according to a specific calendar for blocks of Municipalities and provides for the sanitation of over 337 parish churches that insist on the territory of the Diocese of Rome and will begin at the Don Bosco Basilica on the morning of tomorrow while in the afternoon the Parish of Divine Love will be sanitized.

The Italian Army, since the beginning of the emergency, through 71 structures, each consisting of 6 units, has conducted 314 sanitization interventions (183 in the RSA, 50 in the structures of the police forces and 81 in public places). To these are added the highly specialized teams from the 7th CBRN regiment "Cremona", the only unit of the Armed Force specialized in the fight against contaminants.

In addition to these important contributions, more than 7000 soldiers, already operating in the "Safe Roads" operation, have been deployed to monitor compliance with the Decrees of the Prime Minister, contributing, in the initial stages of the pandemic, to the belt red areas; military doctors and nurses provided support to healthcare companies in the intensive rooms of the Covid departments, setting up 2 field hospitals in the areas of Piacenza and Crema; The Air Force of the Army transported personal protective equipment to local healthcare companies in the Italian territory.
