An opportunity to reflect, to strengthen the awareness of female students on the theme of European citizenship, understood as belonging to a common culture, values, history, path. This is May 9, Europe Day, according to the Minister of Education Patrizio Bianchi, who sent a circular to schools in view of the anniversary that is celebrated this Sunday.

“Europe was born from a dream in the most difficult moments, when it was a battleground, of violence, of war. In those years the idea of ​​a united Europe was born. It was a painstaking construction, which is sometimes taken for granted. It is a construction that is only strengthened if our girls and our boys have the ability to work together ”, says the Minister of Education, Patrizio Bianchi.

The Ministry of Education will dedicate some initiatives to the Day. In particular, tomorrow, Sunday 9 May, the video 'Ode to Joy', made by Europa InCanto, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the European Service for External Action of the European Union - EEAS, will be the opening to celebrations and links of European delegations broadcast live around the world. The hymn, sung by girls and boys from Italian and European schools, will be published on the Ministry's social channels.

An online event is scheduled for Monday 10 May, starting at 10.30, live on the Ministry's YouTube channel. The Minister of Education Patrizio Bianchi will open the meeting.

During the morning, the PON projects on knowledge of Europe and learning environments and the Erasmus projects of schools on mobility will be presented. Students from schools throughout Italy, the youth school bands and the “J. Lennon ”who will play the Ode to Joy.
