Financed the project for the completion of the Gargano expressway

With the funding from MIT of 20 million euros, we start with the feasibility and definitive design for the realization of the completion of the fast-flowing route of the Gargano which will halve the travel times between Vico del Gargano and Manfredonia and increase standards security of the entire route.

This was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Paola De Micheli during her visit to Puglia.

The new project will guarantee a safer and environmentally sustainable path with a positive impact on the territory in terms of tourist attractiveness and economic and social development. Another important objective linked to the work is the increase in the safety standards of the route, which records 1.500 vehicles per day in the winter and over 6.500 vehicles per day in the summer.

The new itinerary, which will be the subject of a public discussion, is an essential infrastructure to improve accessibility to the Gargano and the connection between the most touristic areas of the coast and the inland ones.

The project includes a new route, divided into two sections - one from Vico del Gargano to Vieste, the other from the latter to Manfredonia.

The first section, connecting the SS 693 in Vico del Gargano and Vieste, has adaptation works for about 8,8 km, in addition to the construction of a variant of 9 km. The construction of this stretch allows, in addition to a decrease in travel times for Vieste, also the creation of a knitted route with Rodi Garganico and Peschici.

The second stretch, from Vieste to Mattinata, with a total length of 14 km, is able to bypass the most tortuous area with a significant reduction in travel times.
