G20 Agriculture: Kick off on September 16 with the Open Forum on Sustainable Agriculture

On the 17th and 18th the Summit of Agriculture Ministers

On Thursday 16 September in Florence at 14.00 pm the G20 Agriculture will officially start, under the Italian Presidency, with the Open Forum on Sustainable Agriculture. A G20 event, organized by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, which will see the participation of Agriculture Ministers and delegates from G20 and non-GXNUMX countries, representatives of farmers' organizations and international organizations and of entrepreneurs.

At the center of the debate at the Open Forum on 16 September, the themes of economic, social and environmental sustainability.

The event will consist of an introductory part and four separate sessions that will focus on: increasing productivity, employment and added value in agri-food systems; the improvement of living conditions and inclusive economic growth; environmental sustainability; the demand for food in Africa.

The opening and closing of the event will be entrusted to the Minister of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, Stefano Patuanelli. The Forum will take place in the historic lyric theater of Florence, the "Teatro la Pergola" and will be fully streamed on the official G20 YouTube channel (https://youtu.be/lGJkCmWo31o)

The G20 Agriculture Summit of the G20 will open on September 17 at Palazzo Vecchio with the introductory speech by the Minister of Agriculture Stefano Patuanelli, the Minister of the Environment, Water and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia, Eng. Abdultahaman A. AlFadlley and by FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu.

The ministerial agriculture will focus on the issue of the sustainability of agricultural and food systems.

The day of 17 September will be divided into three ministerial sessions at the end of which (12.10) the Minister of Agriculture Stefano Patuanelli and the FAO Director General, Qu Dongyu, will release statements to the press.

The 18th and 4th G5 Ministerial Sessions will follow on 20 September. At the end of the meeting, the final communiqué of the G20 Agriculture Ministers will be adopted on the issues discussed during the Italian Presidency.

At 12.45 am the press conference of the Minister of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies Stefano Patuanelli will be held, which will officially close the G20 Agriculture under the Italian Presidency.

The Minister of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies Stefano Patuanelli will open the Forum's proceedings at 14.00 pm. This will be followed by an introductory report by United Nations Deputy Secretary-General and President of the United Nations Group for Sustainable Development Amina J. Mohammed. At the center of the first session of the Forum (14.30 - 15.25), moderated by Marion Jansen, Director of the Trade and Agriculture Directorate - OECD, on the topic of increasing productivity, employment and added value in agri-food systems. Speakers Janusz Wojciechowski Commissioner for Agriculture - European Commission, Luis Planas Puchades Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food - Spain, Gerardine Mukeshimana Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources - Rwanda, Hamad Al Batshan Deputy Minister of Animal Resources, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture - Saudi Arabia, Lim Kok Thai Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore Food Agency, Doaa Abdel Motaal WTO Councilor, Ettore Prandini, President Coldiretti and Franco Verrascina, President Copagri. La second session (15.25-16.30) will be dedicated to improving living conditions and inclusive economic growth. The debate was moderated by the Senior Director of the Strategic Partnerships Division - WFP Stanlake Samkange.

In third session (16.35-17.30) the theme will be that of environmental sustainability. Speakers Thomas J.
