G7 Education, Valditara: thanks to the Japanese presidency

Extraordinary harmony in the debate, above all on personalization of education, enhancement of teachers, centrality of technical-professional training

After thanking the Japanese presidency for the splendid organization of the G7, the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, speaking today in the session of the G7 Education Ministers dedicated to the role of mobility for international learning, highlighted that Italy ranks first among OECD countries for student exchanges and we have more than doubled the funds in recent months. He also called for exchange programs to be less elitist and for more investment to be made in exchanges in the technical-vocational education sector, also involving businesses. Finally, the Minister underlined the need for Europe to increase funds also for exchanges between teachers.

Minister Valditara then, during the final conference, highlighted the extraordinary harmony in the reflections and assessments that emerged from the comparison between the various states. In particular, the centrality attributed to the personalization of education for the valorisation of each student's talents, a tool also considered decisive in the fight against dispersion.

Among the key points of the debate, the need to enhance the teaching profession, restoring authority and social centrality to their figure. And then the importance given to the link between school, business and the territory and the centrality of technical-professional education.

With regard to artificial intelligence, it can play an important role but it must be governed within a school that is a community based on human relationships, a school that must combat bullying and cyberbullying by valuing the centrality of the person.

Finally, the importance of student mobility, a tool not only for exchanging knowledge but also for developing common values.
