"Intolerable aggression against the teacher, reaffirm the culture of respect at school"
The Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara personally phoned Giuseppe Martino, school director of the “Andrea Ponti” Institute in Gallarate. The Minister brought the solidarity of him and the whole world of the school to the teacher who was the object of an unacceptable attack by a student and to the entire Ponti community and made sure of the conditions of the teacher.
"This very serious episode is only the latest in a long series of cases of bullying and violence that have involved our schools. A degeneration of our community to which the time has really come to say enough is enough”, Affirms Minister Valditara.
"I wanted to talk to the head teacher to understand the context in which the intolerable gesture matured ”, continues the Minister. "I also reiterated in the conversation that the school must return to a serene place of training and education, that place where the fulfillment of the person is pursued par excellence".
"From this point of view, giving back to the figure of the teacher the authority that is proper to him and affirming the culture of respect and rules in the classrooms are two absolute priorities of my vision of the school and of government action. It is my intention to set up a table with psychologists, jurists and educators to study the best answers to a huge social question”, Concludes the Minister.
