Twins in danger of life transferred from Cagliari to Milan with Falcon 50 of the Air Force

A Falcon 50 aircraft from the 31st Wing of the Italian Air Force landed a few minutes ago at Milan Linate airport. The plane, which took off from Ciampino, carried out the emergency medical transport of only three-month-old twins on the Cagliari-Milan route, in imminent danger of life.

The two children, previously hospitalized at the Monserrato University Hospital "Duilio Casula" (CA), required certain life-saving treatments and this is why the Prefecture of Cagliari requested the immediate and timely intervention of the Air Force to allow hospitalization of the little ones at the San Gerardo Hospital in Monza, where they can receive specific medical care.

The flight mission was carried out by an Air Force crew in emergency response at the Ciampino military airport. It is from here that the Falcon 50 took off shortly after 13 pm for Cagliari airport, where it landed around 14 pm and was thus able to embark the two small patients, one of which in a thermal cradle, accompanied by their parents and by a medical team.

Departing from the Sardinian airport around 14 pm, the plane landed in Linate around 45 pm where an ambulance, waiting for the little twins, immediately transported them to their destination hospital. At this point the Falcon 16 returned to Ciampino, resuming its usual operational readiness for the benefit of the community.

After receiving the request for immediate intervention by the Prefecture of Cagliari, it was the Top Situation Room of the Air Force Air Force Command, which also has among its tasks that of managing this type of emergency, to activate the mission of flight.

Through its Flight Departments, the Air Force provides means and crews ready to take off at any time and able to operate even in complex weather conditions to ensure the urgent transport not only of people in imminent danger of life, often children , just as happened today, but also of organs and medical teams for transplants.

Hundreds of flight hours are carried out every year for this kind of intervention by Air Force aircraft, in particular by the 31st Wing of Ciampino, the 14th Wing of Pratica di Mare, the 46th Air Brigade of Pisa and by the helicopters of the 15th ° Stormo di Cervia, the latter recently engaged in constant support to the population of Emilia-Romagna, severely hit by the heavy floods.
