General Vecciarelli in Colleferro for the last farewell to General Aldo Nanni

(by Andrea Pinto) Today in Colleferro, a town south of Rome, the funeral of the general of the Air Force took place, Aldo nanni. Aldo Nanni, the "general", as his fellow citizens liked to call him, suddenly passed away at the age of 82, during the night of July 31st. Born in Colleferro on 28 December 1937, he was a helicopter pilot with thousands of flight hours gained on the Air Force aircraft. Among the entities and service departments there is also a glorious past at the 72 ° Stormo of Frosinone.

The funeral took place at the church of San Bruno in Colleferro with all the honors expected for a soldier of the caliber of General Nanni. At the request of the family, the Rome Air Force Command sent a platoon of 6 men who escorted the coffin to the altar, complete with a tricolor covering the coffin. A pillow with the symbols of the general officer, saber, scarf, medals and cap, were placed by a soldier of the escort in front of the coffin. The Air Force General Staff also requested a representation from a neighboring department and the 72 ° Stormo of Frosinone was represented directly by his commander, col. pilot Davide Cipelletti.

Many political, civil and military authorities present at the ceremony, important was the testimony of affection shown by the presence of another Colleferrino, pride of the entire citizenry, of the general Enzo Vecciarelli, current Chief of Defense Staff. Colleferro was represented by its first citizen, the mayor Pierluigi Sanna.

The church was packed and there was military aeronautics from every corner of the churchyard. Many former colleagues of General Nanni who under the banner of the various sections ofAeronautical Weapon Association  they were present with their banners. General Aldo Nanni had founded the section of the AAA of Colleferro, of which he was president until the tragic night of 31 July.

Many also colleagues on duty of his son Riccardo and grandson Ubaldo, both senior officers serving at the Arma Azzurra.

The general Aldo nanni he took flight towards the highest and bluest skies, leaving his beloved family: his wife Teresa and their children Riccardo and Matilde.
