Beijing expresses support for Islamabad's efforts to combat terrorism

The Chinese government yesterday expressed its support for the fight against terrorism conducted by Pakistan, and urged the international community to evaluate Islamabad's efforts on that front in an "objective and impartial" manner. The government and the people of Pakistan have sacrificed a great deal in their fight against terrorism and have made great efforts both on the front of the field operations and on the fight against terrorism, said the minister's spokesman during an ordinary press conference Chinese Foreign Affairs, Lu Kang.

The official called on the international community not to prejudicially criticize Islamabad. The spokesman commented on the inclusion of Pakistan in the "gray list" of the Financial Action Task Force on countries that make inadequate efforts to counter terrorist financing. China, Lu said, will continue multi-sector strategic cooperation with Pakistan, and will strengthen communication and coordination with Islamabad on the fight against terrorism. (Nova)
