Germany: clash between two Eurofighters

Two Eurofighter fighters of the German air force collided in flight at Jabel in the land of Mecklenburg-Pomerania during an exercise. The two pilots managed to launch with the ejection seats.

According to what was announced by the German military authorities, it was a collision that caused the two Eurofighters to fall. A third Eurofighter would also participate in the exercise.

The remains of the two vehicles were found about ten kilometers away from each other. At the moment only one of the two pilots has been found alive while the searches, with civil and military means, of the second pilot are still ongoing.

According to reports from the Ostseewelle radio, the police engaged in the research reported that the second pilot was killed. Other media reported human remains in the crash area not yet definitely associated with the military pilot.

According to a first reconstruction, the planes would touch each other and then fall. The jets were stationed at the base near Rostock. The planes exploded on the ground triggering forest fires on which firefighters and other rescuers are working.
